Wolves of every flavor.

Harry's back and up to his eyeballs in wolves. Everything from hexenwolves to loup-garou, if it has something to do with a wolf, Harry is up to his neck in it, including the local lycanthropes. Add in a demon claiming to know something about Harry's past, some guilt over a lost friend, and Harry trying to protect everybody and you have a fast-paced, action filled adventure. It's hard not to be drawn into Harry's world, making this one even harder to put down than the first in the series.

The world that Jim Butcher created in these first two books in intriguing. However, I just can't stand how inept Harry Dresden is as a character. He just makes poor decision after poor decision and often times ends up winning just by pure luck/chance.
There are good supporting characters throughout and the setting feels well done. But if you want a protagonist that you can understand... well, that's not here.

An Irish Werewolf in Dresden

I was first introduced to the Dresden Files via the short-lived Scifi Channel show. I liked the show enough to check out the source material and was not disappointed. While I liked Storm Front, it was not until Fool Moon that I became a full-fledged Harry Dresden fan.
I have always been a fan of werewolves, but they rarely seem to be the featured act and rarely done well when they are. However, as far as I am concerned, in my reading and watching the Fantasy/Horror genre, there has never been a better portrayal of Werewolves than in Fool Moon.
A particularly good scene in the book is when Harry talks to his pet skull, Bob, and he asks him what he knows about werewolves, and Bob responds, "what kind of werewolf do you mean?"
Bob then proceeds to go in detail about the various types of werewolves as Harry writes a report for Lt. Murphy. As we are read the rundown on Lycanthropes, Hexenwolves, Loup-Garou etc. you just have that knowing feeling you get sometimes, the kind that tells you we will be visiting all these manner of wolves at some point or another :)
All of the other wolves pale in comparison to the real deal though, the Loup-Garou in the Dresdenverse (the most traditional werewolf of the bunch). He is a well-nigh indestructible force and makes for one heckuva daunting villain. It is the Loup-Garou that convinces me this is the best werewolf tale around.
but Harry Dresden is up for the challenge as, in typical fashion, he blasts or wisecracks his way through one scrape after another. He even finds time to get to know his inner-self a little better along the way, heh.
In all this is one frantic hell ride through Chicago with Dresden and company. Well worth the price of admission and just unadulterated fun with loads of action, highly recommended.
