I found this book to be very creative and well written. The idea of children wanting the bullies to finally be ousted for who they really are should happen more often. I'm happy I read it.

A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Columbine

This is the second book I have read by Pab Sungenis. It is as well written as his first, and incorporates his unique sense of humor while addressing the serious issue of the consequences of bullying. It tells of how victims can become victors, and potential villains heroes. The characters are wonderfully developed and their growth is evident throughout. Without doubt this is a must read for anyone who wants a new perspective. I am eagerly awaiting more from Mr Sungenis.

A Fantastic Read

Don't for a second allow yourself to be turned off by the title of this book. Columbine of course was a serious incident, but I think what the author emphasizes is what could bring about that kind of situation with bullying. The author shows his respect for the incident but incorporates his wonderful sense of humor and masterful characterization into a story full of wonderful metaphors. Okay, yes I notice the metaphors ... new metaphors intrigue me. If I could give this book more than 5 stars I would. The book addresses a serious issue but is really the story of 4 soon to be 5 young men who have an amazing adventure and turn into unintentional heroes as they overcome one obstacle after another and forge ahead. Okay I am prejudiced, as a former high school teacher, I am always interested in anything to do with school bullying. But this book is about a lot more than bullying, as the characters mature and find themselves. I used to think that this author was one of the best actors in community theater but now all I can say is his writing excels even his excellent acting. Anyone who has attended high school in the last 50 years would probably be able to relate to the story and the characters' motivation. The characters are unique and memorable. The author has a style which leaves me unable to compare him with any other authors but I have loved reading this book and recommend it highly. You won't be disappointed! Pab if you read this, I would be giving you a standing ovation for this and shouting "Encore" at the top of my lungs. Anxiously waiting for your next book.
