Impossible to put down!

I began with part one of this series, mainly at first because it was free and sounded somewhat interesting, but I was also a little nervous.... I then read the reviews and they all had good things to say about it. I thoroughly enjoyed BOTH books an am about to purchase the third. They are IMPOSSIBLE to put down. I highly recommend these. And many thanks (and congrats!) to the busy authors who are also parents! Being a parent myself, I know what an accomplishment it is to be able to do this!

A clever and compelling story about forbidden love with a thrilling Sci-Fi twist! The character developement is so in depth and the feelings that pour out of them when you read this book, it's as if you forget you are reading a book. It feels as if you are having the story played out before your eyes. Talented,innovative and exciting!!Jennifer and Christopher Martucci are the ones to keep your eye on! I couldn't put this book down and I'm sure you won't be able to either. Fantastic read!!!!!!!!!!

Crane’s style shows the influence of the art of the Renaissance and Japanese prints (ukiyo-e). He designed his books according to the belief that “children, like the ancient Egyptians, appear to see most things in profile and like definite statements in design. They prefer well-defined forms and bright, frank colour. They don’t want to bother about three dimensions. They can accept symbolic representations. They themselves employ drawing ... as a kind of picture-writing and eagerly follow a pictured story.”
Crane’s work set the standards of taste in the Victorian children’s book industry and earned him a reputation as ‘the father of the illustrated children’s book’.

About the Author
Charles Perrault was a French author and member of the prestigious Acad?mie Fran?aise. Taking his inspiration from folk tales, Perrault created the fairy tale genre, including such enduring tales as Little Red Riding Hood, Cinderella, Puss in Boots, and Sleeping Beauty, which were published in 1697 as part of his Tales of Mother Goose. Amongst the most influential literary figures in 17th century France, Perrault took part in the creation of the Academy of Sciences, the restoration of the Academy of Painting, and was secretary of the Academy of Inscriptions and Belles-Lettres. He also initiated the Quarrel of the Ancients and the Moderns, and led the Modern faction which argued that the literature from the century of Louis XIV was superior to that of the ancients. Perrault s work served as an inspiration for the Brothers Grimm, and continues to be adapted for the stage, opera, ballet, and film.

Five classics in one book!

Five classic Perrault stories with full color illustrations which are exquisite. (Even in black and white on my Paperwhite they are excellent!) Puss in Boots in this book is a black cat and so his boots really stand out. As for the story of Bluebeard, this one could be classed as a little gruesome! (Kids will love it!) What happened to Bluebeard's other wives? When he goes on a business trip he tells his present wife that she may go everywhere but enter the small closet. Guess what? Temptation is too much and she opens the closet only to discover the bodies of the murdered wives! When Bluebeard comes home he finds out what she has done and says she must join them! Will she be saved or go to her fate?!

In Little Red Riding Hood, both Little Red and the grandmother get eaten. Will the huntsman save them in time? Cinderella AKA Cinderwench gets to go to the ball two nights in a row.

Wonderful classics now in an easy-to-read format, preserved for always.

Nearly Perfect in Every Way!

Beautiful stories and exceptionally detailed artwork! I've been slowly acquiring these fine tales over the course of several months including Blue Beard (on March 12th of 2014) Cinderella, or The Little Glass Slipper ( on July 24, 2014) The Sleeping Beauty in the Woods (July 24th 2014 as well) and The Master Cat or Puss in Boots (on September 3, 2014) so with the addition of Little Red Riding Hood as part of this collection I feel like now I have finally completed the set (having already purchased Beauty and the Beast & Jack and the Beanstalk separately). Marvelous illustrations (as I mentioned before) with five tales for the price of one make this a wonderful bargain. Only reason I'm rating it 4 stars is that it does not provide an active table of contents so that you could access the stories in any order you choose. Otherwise I'd say it's "Nearly Perfect in Every Way" and a great buy that I do recommend!

Finally, a business ebook that understands the STRENGTHS of being an introvert!

What I absolutely love about The Introvert's Guide to Success in Business and Leadership is that Lisa understands what it's like to be an introvert in the business world. She doesn't talk about how we introverts need to 'overcome our weaknesses', but rather she makes us realize that we have natural advantages that we can leverage to help us in our careers!

For example, as an introvert I absolutely HATE networking. If I am at an event, after a day or so, I become drained, I *need* to be alone and to get away from the crowd. I used to think this was simply me being anti-social, but Lisa explains that as introverts we NEED this time to ourselves to recharge. I don't want to give away the rest of the section, but she tells us introverts how to network in a way that makes perfect sense, and she gives us examples of how she's used these methods to benefit her in her own career.

From networking to interviewing to leading others, and so much more, every area Lisa covers is written from the introvert's point of view. This is OUR book, for introverts, written by a highly successful introvert! At 60+ pages, this ebook would be an absolute steal at twice the price. Severly deficient in good content.

Lisa Petrilli's book is, in IMHO, a short, well-intentioned, waste of time.
She simply doesn't have enough experience to be writing a book. She repeatedly brings up the one conference that she attended for introverts, and she tells you over and over about how she met her business partner at this conference. She tries very hard to explain how there is hope, and light at the end of the tunnel. You just need to work towards it.

But chapter after chapter reads the same and I was very, very bored. Perhaps I might read another book by her
after she has put in another 15 years of research on this topic.

I'm currently reading Susan Cain's Quiet. Now if you want to read a book with lots of interesting research (both scientist's studies and author's research), facts and ideas, that's the place to go. If you want a cheer-me-up pep talk enforced by repetition, read Lisa's book.

Helpful as far as it goes

As a new author, the world of marketing overwhelms me, and I found less help than I'd hoped for in this book. It addresses the challenges of surviving and even thriving in a corporate business and doesn't speak directly to the problems of jumping solo into the business world. The solid principles she gives for networking and her good suggestions for accepting and working with introverted characteristics can be applied to any situation, so it's not without merit, but because of its short length and the lack of help for small businesses I believe it's a little overpriced and have rated it three stars.

It's getting better - Picking Up The Pieces

I might have been a little bit harsh on Chris Nuttall when reviewing Patriotic Treason but the sequel Picking Up The Pieces deserves a lot of positive feedback. I really liked it and I almost gave it 5 stars but Nuttall is still somewhat of a newcomer and I couldn't give him 6 stars if I liked his next book even better. This novel is obviously influenced by Jerry Pournelle's The Mercenary and Prince of Sparta which don't bother me a bit because I love Pournelle's writings and I miss him. That said this novel also stands firmly on its own feet. Picking Up The Pieces is an apt title for this novel since it takes place some years after the end of Patriotic Treason and the Unite Nations are breaking up. The planet of Svergie has been abonded by the UN and is threatened by political Chaos and civil war. Enter the mercenary Captain-General Andrew Nolte and his Legion of the Disinherited. Nolte appeared as a minor character in Patriotic Treason but here he is the main character and a very good one of almost Hornblowerian proportions complete with selfdoubt and all. This makes him quite different from John Falkenberg of the Mercenary but more human and believable. Nolte's mission is to support the government of Svergie in avoiding a bloody civil war but nothing is as simple as it first seems and Nolte also have other plans that the government is unaware of. Well, as I usually say, if you want the whole story, read the book. As I mentioned at the start the quality of this novel is considerably higher the the prequel Patriotic Treason. Steep learning curve? Formalities as correct grammar and spelling are now quite alright. Facts about military training and tactics feels right (I spent 40 years in the army). Especially the tactics used by Nolte in the final battle of New Copenhagen shows that Mr Nuttall has done some serious studying of tactics like deep battle or has some competent military advisors. Mr Nuttall even has the spelling of Swedish names correct down to the dots over O and A exept for the spelling of Svergie. That's the way the name of my country is pronounced but it's spelled Sverige. I'll have to ask Mr Nuttall sometime if it's by design or by mistake. So to round of this review I have only one request of Mr Nuttall, I would really like a third and final novel in this series called Martial Law. Could I tempt you with a fifth star?

good story..Annoying lack of editing.

I enjoyed this story as I have enjoyed Nuttall's other books. This one, however, really needs an editor or, at least, a high school sophomore to come in and correct the numerous spelling mistakes. I'm not a grammar nut but the many mistakes are quite distracting. Even to me.

Not as good as some of his other works

Mr. Nuttall is a passable writer when he's on his game but this feels like it was just cranked out.
The book almost exists in two parts. In the beginning were the communists and they lost their seat on the council so they rebelled. They were mostly city inhabitants who worked in factories. After that war ends, the farmers and miners get a bug in their collective butts (because the government is still clueless) and they rebel. So one rebellion for the urban folk and about a month later the country folk start a rebellion. It appears that this second rebellion is pushed by a couple of people from the mysterious Freedom League. Very vague.
At any rate, the first half was OK but the second half didn't hold together very well so it averages out to two stars.

These cards are fairly motivational. They have a mix between scripture, quotes from people, and some are anonymous. Some cards aren't very motivational or are kind of dumb. The design caters towards kids but I see them as more for adults.
